How old is the trailer? 17 digit VIN's are a relativly new thing. My 1980 Haulmark has a 5 digit serial number, no VIN, when I registered it, there was quite a few.

Budd, Your trailer is a 1966 model and it was built in Ft.Wayne, Indiana. The range of serial numbers from 1966 are: FWG496902 through FWG762504. Mike, I think Dave has info on the Avon Lake built Fruehaufs, his email is: FW850607 and FW864902 are 1967 Ft. Wayne built trailers, the range for 1967 are: FWH562801 through FWJ948401, I don't know why there is no 'H or J' in your numbers, but Ft. Wayne built non the less. Bruce, I don't have any info on the Fruhauf fifth wheels but let me know if you find out anything, I've always been interested in more info on them.

For the Fruehauf historians, it looks like the Ft. Wayne plant closed in 1987 with no trailers being produced there in 1988 or later. 1950 Freuhauf 32 ft.

Flatbed trailer, 1951 White WC22PLT Sleeper. Im looking for a Freuhauf vin # its within a group of 3 (maybe more)?? 40 ft SS van trailers that I know of, I have one of them now. Possibly sold new in the Northbridge/Sutton/possibly Boston?? Some things are making me question that the one I have is a 1966. I guess the best way is to verify by vin number: FWG668802.

I know the FW stands for Fort Wayne built. The other 2 from this group of 3 are in this nice shape too. I bought this trailer in 2009, it was used only until 1973. I took off the original license plate with 1973 registration on it, had '66' for the 1st 2 numbers on the plate, we just called it that and registered it as a 1966. Any info is good, THANKS!
